UNIDO relies on tracking solutions from infsoft for its inventory Since May 2017, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has been using infsoft solutions for the inventory of its office equipment at its headquarters in Vienna. infsoft acts as a system provider and supplies hardware and software for the digital visualization of the office inventory. This enables UNIDO to manage its inventory more efficiently and prevents misuse. Visualization of the inventory in real time The aim of the project is to localize inventory components such as furniture, laptops or mobile devices at any time and visualize them on a 2D map view. The solution allows to call up the current location and historical movements. Alarm mechanisms are also integrated when certain components leave predefined areas. All relevant objects are equipped with beacons, which send Bluetooth signals, which are received by the infsoft Locator Nodes. The Locator Nodes are each equipped with a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module and provide the device management platform with the information to display the object location. Both software and hardware are infsoft's own developments. infsoft assumes responsibility for the conception, implementation and operation of the software and trains UNIDO employees in the use of the technology. If the object leaves its defined area of residence, an automated warning is sent to the security service or a third-party provider. Misuse of organizational property and theft are thus avoided. Reduce infrastructure costs "Indoor Positioning Systems are able to increase the efficiency of business processes and reduce costs", says Tobias Donaubauer, Managing Director of infsoft GmbH. This is achieved not only by avoiding theft, but also by making the utilization of the IT infrastructure visible. If, for example, unused laptops are detected in an area of the organization, they can be redistributed to areas where there is a shortage.
