Presence Detector

A presence detector is a device which is used to detect physical presence or absence. It monitors the detection zone for occupancy based on infrared – if a person is sensed, the detector will automatically trigger an action such as turning the lighting on.

Presence detectors guarantee absolute privacy, as no faces are recorded. They are suitable for all closed interiors in e.g. offices, retail stores and healthcare facilities where privacy and high-precision presence detection are required.

Use Cases for Condition Monitoring using Presence Detectors

Presence detectors can be used in a vast range of applications. Here are some examples:

To complement room booking systems in office environments, information on the current occupancy of meeting rooms can be derived from presence detectors.

Presence detectors help to reduce the amount of time lighting is left on unnecessarily, for example if an area is unoccupied. If a person is sensed, the detector will automatically turn the lighting on. When the area is vacated, the lighting will turn off after a preset time delay.
