Frankfurt Airport Success Story

On behalf of Fraport AG, infsoft developed individual ANDROID and iOS apps with indoor positioning and indoor navigation for the third largest airport in Europe. The job was commissioned in 2011 and since then has continued to develop into a omni-channel solution, which now also comprises (responsive) website integration of the map material as well as interactive information media in the terminal (Interactive Airport Desk – "I-AID"). More than 61 million passengers annually profit from these services in an area of over 110 hectares. Approx. 1000 points of interest and approx. 30 kilometers of routes were digitally recorded.

Functions of Frankfurt Airport App

Check-in counters and the respective arrival and departure gates can be saved in the application as navigation destinations. The user can therefore be directed to their desired destination from their current location at any time.

The application informs passengers at any time about the latest flight information and indicates any changes to gates or delays.

All service facilities, restaurants and shops in the airport are displayed on the FRA Airport app and can be easily selected as a destination for the indoor navigation.

The parking assistant navigates the customer directly to the appropriate parking deck based on the selected gate, so as to take the best paths possible. A tariff calculator provides information on the best prices for the various parking durations.

With the “Around me” function, you can find all the shops and facilities near you in a few seconds. Perfect if you still have a little time before departure.

Online shop integration with included incentive program.

Large touchscreens in the terminals display the digital map with important information about the airport. All POIs can be selected as destinations for navigation. Navigation can be seamlessly continued on a smartphone using a QR code.

Scanning the boarding card provides the passenger with all real time information about his/her flight on the I-AID and in the app.

Travelers can also use the app to scan German/English airport signs and translate them into Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Arabic, Korean or Spanish.
