infsoft BLE as a Service
Within the infsoft LocAware platform®, infsoft BLE as a Service provides centralized management, collection, and forwarding of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals. Serving as an infrastructure component for BLE-based applications, it supports functionalities such as firmware updates, data pass-through, and detection of unregistered devices.
Centralized Management of BLE Devices
BLE as a Service provides a structured framework for managing BLE-enabled devices – including both infsoft hardware and third-party components. Depending on device type and configuration, data such as firmware version, battery status, and sensor readings can be captured and transmitted to external systems via standardized interfaces (REST/SOAP).
Management takes place entirely in the cloud within the infsoft LocAware platform®, ensuring a secure, scalable, and transparent infrastructure for all BLE devices.
Forwarding Raw Data from External BLE Devices
For third-party BLE devices, infsoft does not process or interpret the contents of transmitted data packets. Instead, BLE advertising frames or GATT-based data are received by existing infrastructure components and forwarded to external systems in their original format.
This enables flexible integration into existing customer systems without vendor-specific limitations or data loss due to interpretation – ideal for open and interoperable BLE environments.
Detection of Unregistered BLE Devices (Rogue Devices)
In addition to managed devices, the system automatically detects unregistered BLE components (Rogue Devices) within the infrastructure. This detection enhances transparency and helps prevent security-critical scenarios.
Unexpected or unknown BLE signals are clearly identified, allowing unauthorized devices to be recognized early and appropriate countermeasures to be initiated. In this way, the system supports a secure and controlled operational environment.
Protocol Integration & Third-Party Device Connectivity
infsoft BLE as a Service also supports the integration of proprietary BLE protocols, such as those used in specialized devices or industrial sensors. Through conversion solutions, this data can be connected to standardized interfaces without infsoft performing any content interpretation of the transmitted information.
This enables a wide range of third-party devices – including scales, measurement systems, or tracking modules – to be seamlessly integrated into existing BLE infrastructures and managed centrally.
Firmware Updates & GATT Commands via OTA
For selected devices, firmware updates over-the-air (OTA) can be performed directly from the platform. Additionally, read and write commands via the Generic Attribute Profile (GATT) are supported.
Advanced features are available for both infsoft devices and compatible third-party products. This ensures that deployed hardware remains up-to-date and maintenance-friendly, without the need for manual on-site intervention.
Open Platform Integration & Data Forwarding
BLE as a Service operates as a standalone tool within the infsoft LocAware platform®. All collected and forwarded data is available via standardized interfaces and can be integrated into existing IT systems for visualization, analysis, or process control.
This creates a reliable, open infrastructure component for a wide range of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) use cases – from asset tracking and condition monitoring to smart building scenarios.
